Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a retired K-9, Enzo. He was 14 years old and had been retired for three years.

"During his nearly decade of rockstar service to the people of #MilwaukeeCounty, with his partner and handler, Sgt. R. Hernandez, Enzo was legendary for his detection and tracking abilities," said a post online from the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, June 30.

During Enzo's career, he had quite the performance. The post said he sniffed out 21 pounds of marijuana, tracked a driver who wounded and left a woman unconscious, and tracked a robbery suspect by first locating the money, then the suspect himself.

Not only does the Sheriff's Office recognize for his work finding criminals, but they also emphasized his work in the community. According to the post, Enzo was a community engagement team member for the MCSO, participating in multiple meet-n-greets, C.O.P.S. Kids Camps, Summer Camp for Burn Injured Youth, Shop with A Cop, and more.

Enzo joined the Sheriff's Office as a 1-year-old and 'hung up his shield,' in June of 2023, a post said announcing his retirement.

Upon his retirement, the Sheriff's Office said, "Enzo did what good boys do: played, snacked, napped and lived his best life."
