Milwaukee County launches 'Better to Know' opioid overdose prevention initiative
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services has launched a new opioid overdose prevention initiative called "Better to Know."
The initiative aims to address the prevalence of opioid overdoses among adults in Black, brown and Indigenous communities. Its goal is to expand prevention efforts through outreach and education about fentanyl and other drugs.
One of the program's ambassadors, who has lost several loved ones to overdoses, spoke about the importance of making potentially lifesaving information widely available.
"I think as long as we pushing information on how to safe use, what not to do, where you can get help, and where we can be readily available for everyone to just be safe, and not, you know, we don't want anymore people to die."
A total of 15 trusted ambassadors are part of the initiative. They will help share accurate information and connect people with resources in the places where they live, work, worship and gather.
