Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff announces season is over following latest injury

MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff has announced he is being shut down for the rest of the season, following his latest injury back on July 4th in Arizona.

Woodruff making the announcement of a season-ending shoulder surgery himself during a press conference at American Family Field on Saturday, July 18. 


Woodruff appeared in 9 games this season, posting a 2-2 win loss record, with a 2.98 Earned Run Average.

He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers back in 2014 with the 326 overall selection, before making his debut in August of 2017. 

Since then, Woodruff has dealt with a number of injuries in his career, most recently being placed the MLB 60-day injured list. 

The two-time MLB All-Star has posted a career 55-30-win loss record with the Brewers, recording a 3.10 ERA.

Woodruff's pitching future remains uncertain as this season marks the last year of his current deal with the Brewers.
