Milwaukee Brewers and Salvation Army teaming up for annual 'Feed the Kids' kickoff

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Salvation Army and the Milwaukee Brewers are preparing for their annual "Feed the Kids" kickoff, aiming to serve meals to underserved children in Milwaukee.

In 2022 alone, The Salvation Army reports that they distributed 65,000 meals through the program. The 2023 kickoff will take place at noon at the Tailgate Haus at American Family Field on Monday, June 19, where volunteers will prepare 800 sack lunches.

Following the initial event, from June 20 to August 25, approximately 1,200 lunches will be prepared each day, and subsequently distributed across 21 neighborhoods on the city's north and south sides.

The lunches, consisting of a sandwich, cheese stick, snack, apples or carrots, dessert and bottled water, will contribute to the Feed the Kids program's overall goal.

Since its inception in 1990, the program has reportedly provided over 2.7 million meals to hungry children within Milwaukee County, with the Brewers serving as long-term partners.
