Medical professionals from hometown health care group pay in-home visits to patients in need of care

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There once was a time when doctors made house calls. Those days, for the most part, are long gone. But there's a hometown health care group that is sending nurses to see patients, and we were there for one of those visits Wednesday.
It's been a tough time for Jaime Blas of Glendale. His home was damaged by the flood, and he needs medical care.
On Wednesday, Jenny Ovide, a community medical coordinator from Ascension All Saints Family Health Center, came to check up on him.
It's something that Ascension does that's not only good for the patients, but for medical training in community-focused care.
"It's such a nice touch to say, hi, I'm here to help you and I brought you something sweet, or I baked this, or we brought you something from the farm," Ovide said. "I think it adds to that initial, just - just a connection with the patient that feels personal."
"Everybody there treats you like you're a human being," Blas said. "Cause I have been to other doctors, and it don't seem the same."
Jaime Blas tells us Jenny even brings him candy bars and knows exactly what kinds he likes.
