Mayor Johnson expresses support for potential future NBA All-Star Game in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Is the city of Milwaukee ready to host another major event?

Leaders are deep into the planning for next year's Republican National Convention, and on Monday we learned that the Bucks are preparing a bid to bring the NBA All-Star Game to Milwaukee.

That mid-season classic hasn't been played here since 1977 and the event has gotten a lot bigger since then.

Still, Mayor Cavalier Johnson sounds more than ready to bring the game here.

"I want them all. Milwaukee is a city that is poised for a breakout. I don't want Milwaukee to live in any other city's shadow," Mayor Johnson said. "And so whether it's the Republican National Convention, a second try at the Democratic National Conention, the NBA All-Star Game, the MLB All-Star Game, CrossFit games, WWE Summer Slam, I want them all in Milwaukee."

The Bucks All-Star Game bid would be for either 2025 or 2026.
