MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police say a caller's tip about a car in the Ollie's Bargain Outlet parking lot in Grafton led to the arrest of a man in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Cedarburg and a hit-and-run crash, both on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Grafton police say a person in a ski mask tried to enter Port Washington State Bank in Grafton at about 9:45 a.m. and ran toward Grafton High School when the alarm went off. Officers searched the area.

Grafton High School and St. Joseph's Parish School were placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution.

Cedarburg police say a man matching that description went into the Port Washington State Bank in Cedarburg at about 12:15 p.m., said "Nobody move, where's the money?" and reached across his body as if he was grabbing a gun. A hold-up alarm went off, and he ran toward a vehicle.

At about 2:25 p.m., Grafton police got a report of a hit-and-run at Falls and 17th Ave. involving a black Chevy sedan that lost its right rear wheel. About eight minutes later, a caller reported the car in the Ollie's lot.

Police say a man tried to run from officers and was caught immediately, and that the car was the same one used in Cedarburg. Flock and Axon Outpost cameras reportedly showed it near both banks at the times of the incidents.

Police say a search warrant turned up a duffle bag with a black hoodie matching the description, black gloves, a mask and a handgun. The man is in the Ozaukee County Jail awaiting arraignment and formal charges.
