Long-term lane closure planned for I-94 in West Allis

A major lane closure is about to impact anyone who uses I-94 to get in and out of Milwaukee on a daily basis. As part of the Zoo Interchange construction project, crews will shut down one lane on the westbound side of I-94 in West Allis for the better part of a year.

The shutdown will impact the leftmost lane of westbound I 94 between 68th Street and 84th Street. This will result in slowdowns for travelers leaving the city and heading west towards Brookfield and Waukesha.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, I-94 westbound will be completely shut down during the overnight hours of Friday, November 21st and through the morning of the 22nd. When the road reopens the left lane will be blocked from traffic.

Drivers will be asked to navigate a \"zipper merge\" from left to center on I-94 westbound as they approach 68th street. The new pattern could cause delays for motorists as they pass Miller Park. The lane closure is expected to last until late 2015.
