Life Skills Triathlon at Nicolet High School

It's one thing to hear the cheering after crossing the finish line. But,  wonderful it was for dozens of students at Nicolet High School Friday to cross that finish line with a Special Olympian.

It was the second annual Life Skills Triathlon.

Students helped athletes with various physical challenges realize their dream of completing a series of courses from running to swimming to bicycling.

Physical fitness is the key component of the event, but the life skills learned will serve hearts and minds as well.

\"I formed a really nice bond with my buddy,\" sophomore Natalie Maniscalco told CBS 58 News. \"It was really fun.\"

This year the event was held in memory of Lydia Sahin, a past participant and special Olympian who lost her battle with cancer in August.

Nicolet athletes work pink which was Lydia's favorite color.
