Late night shooting in Racine under investigation

A young man from Racine was shot in the stomach late Friday  and at last report is in stable condition at the Wheaton-Ascension Hospital  in Racine.  The 15-year-old was shot sometime before midnight.  According to the Mount Pleasant Police, officers stopped a vehicle just after midnight Saturday that was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed, east bound on Highway 20 near Village Center.   When officers pulled the car over, the driver said his cousin had been shot and he was rushing him to the hospital.   The officers found the 15-year-old conscious and alert in the back seat of the car suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.  The  South Shore Rescue squad was called and took the young man to the hospital.  The Mount Pleasant Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
