Late night fire damages Oconomowoc home

A single story home in Oconomowoc was damaged by fire late Thursday night.  The four people living in the home, an adult and three children, were able to escape the fire uninjured before firefighters arrived. 

According to a news release from the Oconomowoc Fire Department, the fire was reported around 9:55 PM to a rental property at Highland Avenue and S Park Street.  There was heavy black smoke coming from the building when firefighters arrived.  Firefighters were able extinguish the fire which had moved through three rooms, the attic and roof of the structure.   Crews finally left the scene around 12:30 AM.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there is no dollar estimate of the fire, water and smoke damage to the home.  There were no working smoke detectors in the building.

Firefighters from Dousman, Lake Country, Stone Bank and Western Waukesha County Rapid Intervention Team, Ashippun, Sullivan and Ixonia provided mutual aid during the fire.
