Kwanzaa Begins

MILWAUKEE-The Wisconsin Black Historical Society welcome members of the community Thursday for the opening ceremony to the cultural celebration called Kwanzaa.

Long time participants tell us Milwaukee was among the first cities to begin observing Kwanzaa back in 1966, a great source of pride.

They stress that Kwanzaa is cultural, not religious or political.

Broth Oshi Adelabu told CBS 58 News that if more people adhered to the principles of Kwanzaa, including unity and collective work, \"Our community would be better than it is right now.\"

The Black Historical Society is located on Center Near Fond Du Lac.

They will have another celebration Friday emphasizing the principle of self determination starting at 6:30 p.m.
