MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hop is encouraging families to take a ride on the streetcar this week.
Mayor Barrett helped kick off Family Hop Week by taking a ride with a group of kids from Ebenezer Child Care. As part of Family Week, young riders will be given a Bingo card and once they mark off enough city landmarks, they'll get a cupcake.
The Mayor says the streetcar isn't just for commuters, it's for the whole family.
"I think there's frankly a lot of older people who remember the streetcar and they want their kids and grandkids to be introduced to it and kids like riding trains and I think that's a big part of it, it's a fun way to travel around the city," says Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
The Mayor also said Monday they're working on securing funding to extend the streetcar in time for the DNC to help visitors get to more parts of the city.
