DATCP issues health alert for Wisconsin bratwurst over undeclared allergens

JUDA, Wis. (CBS 58) — The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has issued a public health alert for a bratwurst product made by a Monroe County meat processor because it contains undeclared allergens.

The alert applies to raw "Rueben Flavored Bratwurst" produced by Rackow Family Sausage in Juda.

According to DATCP, the product contains soy and egg, known food allergens that were not listed on the label. The bratwurst includes sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing and corned beef-type flavors.

The product was sold frozen at Rackow Family Sausage on or before July 9, 2026.

Officials are advising anyone with a soy or egg allergy not to consume the product and instead discard it.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product. Anyone experiencing symptoms of a foodborne illness or an allergic reaction should contact their health care provider.
