MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- John 'Ax man' Axford was inducted into the Brewers' Wall of Honor this afternoon, Aug. 23.

The Wall of Honor recognizes players, coaches and executives for their service to the organization and career achievements.

Axford played six seasons with the Brewers and ranks third in franchise history with 106 saves. He also holds the franchise's single season saves record, 46, and consecutive saves record, 43. Both set during the 2011 season.

Axford thanked the front office, teammates, family and of course fans.

"They really embraced me the whole time. The mustaches, the ax chops in the stadium and also for choosing what I think is the greatest intro song of all time for a pitcher Refused's 'New Noise,'" said John Axford. "So, every time I hear that it brings me back to pitching on the mounds here at Miller Park - sorry - American Family Field."

Axford is the 72nd Brewer to make it on the wall.

He will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when the Brewers take on the Giants tonight at 6:10 p.m.
