MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee family got the surprise of a lifetime on Wednesday.
Sade Franklin built her Habitat for Humanity home alongside volunteers. After the single mother of three was presented the home on Wednesday, she walked in to see it was fully furnished.
“This is so nice! I’m trying not to cry,” Franklin said.
The furniture and appliances were donated through a partnership between Colder’s Furniture and Appliance and former NFL player Warrick Dunn’s Homes for the Holidays program.
“I don’t know what to say, the words can’t even explain the way I feel right now,” Franklin said. “I’m just so blessed.”
Milwaukee Habitat says it plans to build, rehab and repair 100 homes throughout Midtown.
Franklin says the furnishings weren’t only a wonderful holiday surprise, but something that will make a difference in her family for years to come.
“This means that I save so much money,” she said. “By getting my house furnished I can do so many other things with the money, like saving for their college fund, now I can start their college fund without having to worry.”
Franklin was also given a $5,000 check as a down payment on the house.
