MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In a push to celebrate and elevate Milwaukee's Black and Brown communities, Radio Milwaukee's new urban alternative channel, HYFIN, has announced two events for the month of August.
Tarik Moody, HYFIN Program Director and Director of Digital for Radio Milwaukee, shed light on the initiatives when joining us on Thursday, July 27.
Both events underscore HYFIN's goal of connecting and celebrating culture in Milwaukee, demonstrating the strides made in the realm of arts and performance.
HYFIN's Anti-Gala takes place on Thursday, Aug. 3 at the Marcus Performing Arts Center and will feature performances by Madison McFerrin and Silas Short, a fashion showing from the nationally recognized Edessa Fashion School and a plated dinner by chef Jason Alston of Heaven’s Table.
An awards ceremony will round out the night, honoring local innovators and trailblazers.
Moving towards the latter part of the month, HYFIN will host "Brown, Black & Brews: The Fifth Ingredient" on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Pilot Project Brewing. This event spotlights the region's minority-owned breweries, showcasing their efforts and inspiring those interested in brewing.
It will feature tastings from regional BIPOC-owned breweries and a pop-up shop from HYFIN's community partners.
HYFIN can be visited online at hyfin.org, heard on 88.9 FM-HD2 or through the HYFIN mobile apps.
