(CBS 58) – The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 1 and many people may want to make a mint julep to celebrate.
Chief Mixologist & Bar Manager at Great Lakes Distillery Brendan Cleary joined CBS 58 to share alcoholic and non-alcoholic recipes.
Mint Julep recipe:
- 2.5 oz Still & Oak Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Heavy 1/2 oz Demerara Syrup
- 10-15 Mint Leaves
- Crushed or Pellet Ice
Lightly muddle mint and demerara sugar together. Add a little ice and bourbon. Stir to combine and then add remaining ice. Garnish with Mint Leaf
Non-alcoholic Mint Julep recipe:
- 2.5 oz Unsweetened Ice Tea
- 3/4 oz Demerara Syrup
- 3/4 oz Lemon Juice
- 10-15 Mint Leaves
Crushed or Pellet Ice. Lightly muddle mint and demerara sugar together. Add lemon juice and pellet ice and stir. Add the ice tea. Garnish with Mint Leaf.
