RACINE/KENOSHA COUNTIES, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Work on phase one of a road construction project in Racine and Kenosha Counties starts Monday.
Some homeowners aren't happy about the project, saying the plan to expand Highway KR is going to cause some of their properties to shrink.
Some are putting signs in their yards in protest of the expansion project. The Wisconsin DOT says County KR won't be able to keep up with anticipated travel demands from future projects like Foxconn.
There have also been deadly crashes in the area.
To make the changes happen, some homeowners will lose part of their front yard.
"They are planning take about 99 feet of that, so that is going to bring the right of way within 25 to 26 feet of my door," said homeowner Leslie Maj.
A public meeting on the project will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Kenosha at the Kenosha County Center.
