Heat, humidity and severe storm chances will all increase for the new week

NOW: Heat, humidity and severe storm chances will all increase for the new week

We finally saw good rainfall in southeast Wisconsin last Friday with a soaking rain in the morning then some strong to severe storms rolling in during the evening hours. Rain totals ranged from a half inch to over 2" for most of southeast Wisconsin. The 1.42" of rain in Milwaukee was the most rain we picked up in one day since the beginning of April - 65 days ago. That rain in April started a streak of very wet days that eventually led to flooding.

Scattered showers and storms are out there already Monday morning. More scattered storms are likely throughout the rest of Monday. Tuesday's rain chance is not as likely, if it happens it would be in the early morning and late evening hours. Rain totals over the next 48 hours range from 0.25-0.75" but some slow moving storms Monday afternoon could push those totals over an inch in some areas.

There's no big threat for widespread severe storms Monday or Tuesday although some storms Monday afternoon could get a bit interesting. But all eyes are already on Wednesday. A Level 3 Enhanced Risk for severe storms is already in play for most of the state with a Level 2 Slight Risk near Lake Michigan. A round of storms is possible Wednesday morning and again in the evening.

Temperatures on Monday will be warmer than Sunday but we still have a lake breeze so Milwaukee will be cooler in the mid 70s than inland areas. The warmth returns for Tuesday around 80 then Wednesday and Thursday could rival the warmest temps of the year with highs in the upper half of the 80s. The end of the week is cooler.

The most humid air of the season is set to arrive as well. Dew points on Monday won't be too bad in the low 60s but still very noticeable. A tropical level air mass is set to roll in for the rest of the week with dew points in the 70s!
