Happy Fall! The autumnal equinox happens Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time. Fall is when our temperatures start to drop but it's also when the leaves change color. We've had some trees here and there in southeast Wisconsin start to change color but for the most part color hasn't really peaked. A few counties in northern Wisconsin are showing about 25% peak color right now.
Fall color up north is actually a little behind average. They usually experience peak color right around now so should be closer to 75%. Here in the southern half of the state we don't get to peak color until the month of October.
Temperatures for the first few days of fall will feel more summer like with highs in the upper 70s with a decent amount of sunshine. After a few isolated showers Tuesday morning our next chance for rain is Thursday.
