June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month \"Our Stories with Michele\" Monday focused on the local efforts to help heal Veterans through music.

Inside Kraft Music (4700 W. Ryan Road, Franklin), packages between 20 and 50 guitars and accessories  each month and sends them  to Veterans across the country suffering from PTSD.

The care packages are a gift to graduates of Guitars for Vets (G4V), a national non-profit organization headquartered in Milwaukee whose mission is to provide Veterans struggling with PTSD a unique and supportive guitar instruction program. After completing 10 weeks of lessons, graduates receive a free guitar and accessory kit.

Patrick Nettesheim of Guitars for Vets joined Ben Kraft recently on the CBS 58 News at 4 p.m.

The Hal Leonard Corporation  (7777 W. Bluemound Road, Milwaukee). has also donated more than 2,000 method book/CD packs to the Guitars for Vets program, as well as hundreds of gift cards.

The G4V program is run by volunteers primarily through Department of Veterans Affairs facilities and community-based medical centers at more than 40 chapters across the U.S. Graduates are invited to monthly group sessions which provide a communal atmosphere to talk and continue to play music with peers who have shared similar experiences.
