George Webb waitress serving up free burgers in 1987, 2018, and now, 2025

FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Twice in Brewers history, George Webb has provided free burgers to fans if the Brewers win 12 games in a row.
Whether you're a longtime fan who has been here for the last two promotions and or a newer fan experiencing this for the first time. In Franklin, there’s a good chance that Mary Beth Unglaub will be the one to serve you a burger.
The sign outside might say no free burgers today, but inside the restaurant, that’s not stopping anyone’s excitement.
“I was very sad when they lost that last one,” said Joe Block, a Brewers fan. “The last time it was nuts.”
Decades ago, George Webb Restaurants ran a promotion. The Brewers win 12 straight games and fans will get a free burger.
“Because I love burgers,” said Brantley Hagen, a Brewers fan.
Mary Beth Unglaub has been at the center of it all.
“We didn’t know what we were doing, but we handled it,” said Unglaub. “I love my customers. I would do anything for them.”
When it first happened in 1987, some fans thought it was just luck.
“Well, they probably won’t do this again, so I’m just gonna hold onto this,” said Eugene Weiser, a Brewers fan.
Then 31 years later, Unglaub was serving up patties again in 2018.
“It was good. The first one was exciting. It was raining out. I was outside in the rain. The second one was a very nice day and it was very exciting to see all the people just for a burger,” said Unglaub.
Next Wednesday, she’ll do it for a third time and she’s got it down to a science.
“No. I can handle it,” said Unglaub.
So whether you’ve been a fan your entire life or you’re just starting to get into baseball, at this George Webb, Unglaub says each burger is served up with a smile.
“I stay for them,” said Unglaub.
