CBS 58’s Ready Weather team takes on Weather Day at American...
We are in a bit of a cooler stretch of weather. Highs are well below-average the next few days in the 40s and some could even stay in the 30s on Wednesday. Frost advisories and freeze warnings have been issued to our south for both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. We won't see any of those headlines in Wisconsin since our growing season hasn't really started.
Over the last five years most of our last freezes have come during the last week or so of April. In 2020 it was even later in the beginning of May and in 2017 it was a very early start to spring with a last freeze at the end of March.
The last week of April typically sees the last average freeze in southeast Wisconsin. The farther north you go the more delayed the growing season is with northern Wisconsin not getting their last freeze until the end of May!
Tuesday morning saw temperatures get down into frost range away from the lake. With a mostly clear sky expected, a hard freeze is likely for most of our local area Wednesday morning. Thursday morning will likely also see a freeze with a frost possible Friday morning. Overnight lows will finally start to warm by the weekend.
