St. Camillus residents show patriotic spirit during annual parade
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) — Residents at St. Camillus Life Plan Community gathered Tuesday for the facility's fourth annual patriotic parade, celebrating community spirit while honoring those who have served the country.
Dressed in red, white and blue, residents made their way through the campus waving American flags as family members, staff and community supporters cheered them on.
The event drew participation from across the community, including local elected officials and first responders. St. Camillus CEO Michael Libby joined the festivities dressed as Uncle Sam.
“Participation in this is pretty widespread,” Libby said. “It's community wide. It's all the residents, as I mentioned it's those independent and those that are here for care purposes. It's folks from the community. We see our mayor here, our police department, fire department.”
A special recognition of military veterans was also a key part of the celebration, as organizers took time to honor those who served while bringing residents together for a day of patriotic fun.
