Former Health Commissioner Bevan Baker won't appear before committee, Common Council exploring subpoena

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Milwaukee Health Department Commissioner Bevan Baker has decided not to appear for the Common Council's Steering and Rules Committee during a special meeting set for Monday, September 24, according to Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton.

Baker's decision comes at the advice of his attorneys.

As a result, the meeting has been cancelled. President Hamilton said the Common Council is continuing to explore its options and has not ruled out the use of its subpoena power as it continues to gather information.
