FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Deployment of roofing contractors recently helped improve the home of a Navy veteran.
Phillip Opalewski of Fond Du Lac served in Desert Storm and his wife recently dealt with health issues. A contractor with Security-Luebke Roofing heard their story and knew they would be the ideal candidates for a free roof, courtesy of the Owens Coming Roofing's national Roof Deployment Project.
"Just after reading their story, we were moved, and thought well, let's help them," Shannon Alberts of Security-Luebke Roofing said. "They needed a roof, this is going to save them $10,000. We're excited to do it, our employees are excited to do it. That's neat to see."
Crews were expected to have the roof completed by the end of the day Monday, July 6.
This was made possible by the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. The project works with contractors across the country to provide military families with a free, new roof.
