Fatal hit and run leaves homeless man dead

A fatal hit and run accident leaves a homeless man dead. Police say the accident happened around 7:20pm on Saturday at the intersection of 9th and Greenfield Avenue.

The decedent, a 45-year-old man was walking south on 9th Street when he was struck by a Cadillac Escalade that was heading west on Greenfield.

The driver of that vehicle, a 47-year-old female, continued driving after striking the man. She later turned herself in at a police station.

Police say they have reason to believe she was impaired at the time of the accident.
