MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Spring Election in Wisconsin is underway.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6.

CBS 58 spoke with voters at the Zeidler Building in Milwaukee.

“Every vote matters and I just wanted to make sure that I got out here for that,” Voter Jonathan Strickland said.

The big race on the ballot is for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Jill Underly and Deborah Kerr are vying for the spot.

Also on the ballot in Milwaukee are candidates for the Milwaukee School Board and Circuit Court judges.

“Seeing as all elections are important, I felt with spring elections it was good for me to come out and at least do a little bit of research on who the candidates are,” Voter Nevaeh Wrights said.

Although voter turn-out is typically low during spring elections, several voters said they hope more people come out to the polls throughout the day.

“I was kind of disappointed that there weren’t more people out here,” Voter Chris Zito said. “I’m sure a lot of people in the neighborhood voted on their way to work and stuff and some will come after work I hope.”

The polls are open until 8 p.m. Voter registration information can be found on the MyVote Wisconsin website.
