WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Five members of Wisconsin's Urban Search and Rescue Task Force (Wisconsin Task Force 1) are on their way to Texas.

According to Wisconsin Emergency Management, the group departed from Volk Field in Camp Douglas Tuesday morning, from the Regional All-Climate Training (REACT) Center, to help in the aftermath of devastating flooding.

They say the team is bringing three K-9s, a utility all-terrain vehicle, and medical supplies to assist with search efforts. They are expected to arrive in Texas Wednesday, July 9.

Officials say the Texas Division of Emergency Management requested the help of the task force for two weeks, but the duration of stay could be shortened or lengthened based on need.

“Wisconsin Task Force 1 brings together individuals from across the state with specialized training and capabilities to support not only our own communities, but also communities experiencing emergencies throughout the country,” said Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Greg Engle. “We are a more resilient nation when states support one another during emergencies. Our hearts go out to the families and communities affected by this terrible disaster.”

Wisconsin Task Force 1 includes members from fire departments across the state. Those deployed to Texas are from Green Bay, Janesville, and Menomonie fire departments, and limited-term employees of the REACT Center.
