MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's Department of Public Works shared a flood recovery update Monday, Aug. 18, as crews continue their emergency response in the wake of last week's historic flooding.

DPW says free curbside pickup and drop-off center services have been extended through this week, and free bulky item pickup of flood-damaged materials will continue to be offered to residents who receive city garbage collection. Crews are still completing their first round through neighborhoods and will return for additional sweeps.

To request a pickup, contact the city call center at 414-286-CITY, submit a request online at milwaukee.gov/clickforaction or use the MKE Mobile app.

DPW says crews are also working to address streetlight outages, and sewer, forestry and street maintenance crews are working to address additional flood-related concerns.

While flood response remains the priority, they say brush collection remains suspended, and recycling collections are expected to resume the week of Aug. 25.
