DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The FBI announced the arrest of a Dane County man on Wednesday.
According to a release from the FBI, Jeremy Ryan, 30, is charged with attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death.
Court documents allege that in March and October of 2018, Ryan attempted to purchase a lethal dose of a radioactive substance via the internet to kill someone.
Following Ryan's arrest in the Village of Black Earth, a search warrant was executed at his home in Madison. Authorities say there is no danger to the public associated with those law enforcement actions.
The charge of attempted possession of radioactive material with intent to cause death carries a maximum term of life in prison.
