Update: Missing 9-year-old boy found safe
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee family is experiencing a tremendous sense of joy and relief after an agonizing 15 hours of waiting and worrying about their 9-year-old son who was missing.
Kordell Ellis was reunited with his family around 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
Video captured the emotional moment where Kordell was reunited with his family at their home near 57th and Custer.
Ellis' mother says her son was out playing last night near their home and was supposed to come in when the street lights turned on. When he didn't, she looked outside and couldn't find him. After searching for hours, Kordell was found at a friend's home.
The friend's mother thought Kordell had permission to be there.
Kordell told CBS 58 News he learned an important lesson from this, so that his mother doesn't have to go through something like this again.
"wait until it's dark when the street lights come on and then come back home," Kordell Ellis said.
"I was just so relieved. I mean I just broke down in tears because it was just like the worry was over. It has been just crazy. I mean we've been up and down the streets. The thoughts just going through your head. What could go wrong with everything going on right now," said Tanicca Ellis, mother of Kordell.
