Cone pleads not guilty to kidnapping and sexual assault charges

MILWAUKEE -- 30-year-old Lamar Cone appeared in court to enter a plea of not guilty. Cone is facing charged related to kidnapping, beating and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old Milwaukee girl.


According to the criminal complaint, the 13-year-old was walking to the library located at N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and Locust St. on November 25th. The complaint says the girl was headed there after being suspended. The victim says as she was walking to the library Cone and his girlfriend known as Cashmere stopped and offered her a ride. 


The victim says she got into Cone's silver sedan, and that's when Cone said he had to go downtown first. Cone allegedly took the 13-year-old girl to an apartment located above Dukes on Water, a bar located at the intersection of N. Water St. and W. Juneau Ave. in Milwaukee. 


The criminal complaint says Cone kept the young girl at this apartment for a week. During that time the victim says he would pressure her to \"work the streets\". Cone allegedly punched the girl and told forced her to engage in sexual acts with the treat of more physical violence.


Milwaukee police was at the apartment building doing door to door checks for the missing 13-year-old. The victim says she was hidden under blankets while Cone answered the door. Police say they checked the apartment on December 1st, because an anonymous tip said the victim was seen in the area.


On December 2nd, the victim was able to sneak out of the apartment and flee. She went straight to her father's house.


Cone is charged with kidnapping, second degree sexual assault of a child, physical abuse of a child, and false imprisonment.
