MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Seven Milwaukee-area organizations that work on homelessness and housing instability will each receive $10,000 through United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, according to a Monday, Oct. 26 press release.

The money comes from the Brewers Community Foundation's 50/50 raffle held during Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, Oct. 23.

The organizations are Cathedral Center, Community Advocates Family Support Center, Guest House of Milwaukee, Hope House, Pathfinders, The Salvation Army and Walker's Point Youth & Family Center.

United Way is also running the "Step Up to the Plate Housing Challenge," part of Mayor Cavalier Johnson's Year of Housing. A donation of $20 or more supports the same seven organizations and counts as an entry in a sweepstakes, according to United Way. The prizes are four Brewers tickets for a 2027 home game, a parking pass, Brewers merchandise and a chance to throw out the first pitch at a game.

"These donations will help seven local organizations continue their essential work to address homelessness and housing instability," said Amy Lindner, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

Donations must be made by the end of the day of the last game of October baseball. All details can be found by clicking here.
