Brewers and Cubs fans brave the heat in I-94 rivalry series match-up
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Oppressive heat didn't stop loyal baseball fans from showing up for Monday's I-94 rivalry match-up as the Brewers took on the Cubs to kick off the series.
“If anything, the beer's going to go down that much quicker, so stay hydrated," said Brewers fan Mark Rasmussen. "That’s what they say, right?”
Thousands of fans showed up to tailgate, some coming hours before the game and forming a line to secure the best spot.
"Pregaming before the pregame before the game, you know, you just got to do it right," said Rasmussen. "This is the only way to do it here in Wisconsin."
Soaking up the sun, while enjoying good eats and showing their team pride.
"You’ve got two teams who are fired up, ready to go, so it should be a good series,” said Cubs fan Tim Stokes.
Ready for even more heat on the mound.
"I think it's really going to be a close race here, anyway," said Cubs fan Bob George. "Right now, we are tied in the standings, right, this is going to be a big series for everybody here."
Fans say they are ready for more, with another hot one expected Tuesday, June 27.
