MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- It's been 75 years since a family of birds on a bridge captured the attention of Milwaukee residents and people nationwide. Now the story is getting a sequel of sorts one bridge over.
A family of Canada geese has taken refuge in a planter on the Wells Street Bridge. As the city shut down during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, locals took notice of the mother goose and her eggs on the bridge, documenting their progress on social media. Now that the goslings have hatched, more are taking notice of the family one bridge over from the spot Gertie the Duck once nested.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Rose Schmidt met some locals on a new bird watch in downtown Milwaukee.
