WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS58) -- One week ago, it was a chaotic scene at Mayfair Mall. There was a massive police presence and people were standing around waiting for their families to be released.

Police say a 15-year-old opened fire inside the mall striking eight people last Friday, Nov. 20. Investigators say it was not a random, rather an altercation between two groups. The 15-year-old was arrested the next day after a traffic stop in Milwaukee. Police say they also found the gun in the vehicle.

On Black Friday, shoppers told CBS 58 they noticed something out of the ordinary at the mall.

“I guess it feels a little different, there is an increase police presence," Joseph Shaw said. He was shopping with his family.

CBS 58 obtained cellphone video of customers inside the mall.

“It’s a lot more security because of what happened," Alyssa Farina said.

CBS 58 spotted a K-9 unit patrolling the mall. Shoppers say despite the shooting incident, the mall is much quieter.

And shoppers say despite the shooting incident-the mall is much quieter this year.

“It’s a lot less people than it usually is," Farina said.

“It’s definitely been different with COVID, shopping centers having their Black Friday sales open a little longer, but it’s been a good experience so far," Shaw said.

The 15-year-old is facing multiple felonies. One for each of the eight victims, for reckless injury while armed with a dangerous weapon.

CBS 58 reached out to Wauwatosa police for more info, they did not release any new details.
