28-year-old woman killed in Manitowoc car crash Friday

MANITOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A car accident claimed the life of a 28-year-old woman in Manitowoc Friday morning, Oct. 1.

The Manitowoc County sheriff said that the single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 6:47 a.m. Friday near Berringer Road in the Township of Kossuth.

Deputies and other officials determined that the crash likely occurred early Friday morning.

Authorities believe that a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound on CTH R before entering the east ditch and overturning a number of times prior to having a final resting position on its passenger side.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff reported that the victim, a 28-year-old female from Green Bay, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office.

Officials say it is unclear if fog was a contributing factor.
