MADISON (CHANNEL 3000) A 12-year-old boy was shot in the face Friday by a BB gun fired by another 12-year-old boy, according to a release from Madison police.

Police said the victim was in the 1200 block of McKenna Boulevard walking to Elver Park on Friday evening when he saw an acquaintance pointing a rifle at him and he was shot in the face. The rifle was a BB gun, police said.

A BB became lodged in the boy’s nose, a couple of inches from his eye. He was taken to the hospital for stitches.

The suspected shooter was found at his home and arrested on suspicion of second-degree reckless endangerment. He was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center.

The victim told police he is not friends with the suspected shooter, but has seen him at school.
