Woman found dead following Kenosha standoff identified

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police have identified the deceased woman found in the basement of a Kenosha home following a standoff. Police were engaged in a 10-hour standoff with at the home located near 21st Ave and 57th St.

Police say 33-year-old Heather Adamski of Kenosha is the woman they found in the basement of a Kenosha home. The cause of death has been determined to be a gunshot wound to the head. Police say they are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Adamski's death.

Police were first called to the house following the report of a possible shooting around 5:10 a.m. The Kenosha County Tactical Team arrived on the scene around 6:30 a.m.

A neighbor told CBS 58, the suspect is a veteran, and often heard the couple arguing. Robert Herzog, Jr. says his father lives next door to the house. He says his father heard gunshots, and breaking windows.

Police say a man on oxygen was freed from the house during the early hours of the standoff. They believed no one else was in the house with the suspect. That's why police thought they could take their time negotiating with the suspect.

The Kenosha County Tactical Team breached the home following 10 hours of negotiations. Police report the man inside the home was arrested without much resistance.

The male suspect is being held at the Kenosha County Jail on a probation hold.
