MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- June is National Dairy Month, and Wisconsin's 78th Alice in Dairyland, Sarah Hagenow, joined us Monday, June 22 to talk about the state's dairy industry.

Hagenow said 99% of Wisconsin dairy farms are family-owned, with many spanning multiple generations. She encouraged people to support local farming families by choosing Wisconsin dairy products and looking for the Proudly Wisconsin Cheese and Proudly Wisconsin Dairy badges on packaging.

Tying new recipes featuring Wisconsin dairy was also a recommendation, including a grilled feta and watermelon salad that combines Greek yogurt and feta cheese with watermelon, blueberries and fresh greens. She also pointed to "Breakfast on the Farm" events held around the state, which let visitors see family-owned dairy farms and the practices used to produce milk.
