MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Next Act Theatre is staging the Wisconsin premiere of "Swing State," a drama set in the state's Driftless region, through Sunday, March 8. Director Cody Estle and actor Jack Lancaster joined us Tuesday, Feb. 17 to talk about the production.
Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rebecca Gilman, the play follows a recently widowed woman tending her rural Wisconsin prairie property whose quiet life is disrupted by a family friend with a checkered past. A mysterious theft sets off a chain of events that changes their lives and community.
The play received its world premiere at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in 2022 and played Off-Broadway in 2023. Lancaster, known for "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" and FX's "The Bear," previously understudied the role of Ryan Severson at the Goodman and Off-Broadway and is making his Next Act debut.
Tickets range from $29 to $44 and are available at nextact.org or by calling (414) 278-0765.
