Wisconsin leaders respond to fatal shooting involving federal law enforcement in Minneapolis
WCCO MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Minneapolis officials are monitoring and working on the scene of a fatal shooting involving federal law enforcement Saturday morning, Jan. 24, as announced in a social post on X.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in a post on X, said he spoke to the White House after the fatal shooting, stating that "The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now."
Several of Wisconsin's top elected leaders, including Gov. Tony Evers and representatives in Congress, have responded to the fatal shooting.
Evers reposted Walz's social post on X, stating Wisconsin stands with Minnesota.
Senator Tammy Baldwin called for ICE to leave Minneapolis in a post on X, stating that "ICE agents are totally out of control and making Minneapolis less safe."
Representative Mark Pocan also showed his opposition to the fatal shooting involving federal law enforcement agents.
Third District Congressman Derrick Van Orden stated in a social post that Governor Walz, was quote "getting people killed to cover up for the massive fraud he oversaw." Referencing the alleged long running monetary fraud in Minnesota.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Devin Remiker also posted a statement on the shooting. In the statement, he maintained that the Trump Administration and the GOP have been operating outside of the law.
