Winter Storm Causes Delays & Cancellations At MKE

The winter storm is hitting just as millions of travelers are heading back home after the Christmas holiday.

And a handful of flights have already been canceled and more are delayed.

The snow really started to come down hard just after 9 Monday morning at Mitchell International.

As of noon, 20 flights were canceled, most of which were to or from Chicago.

Southwest Airlines also canceled a number of flights ahead of the storm. More flights will likely be canceled because of the weather as the day goes on.

Travelers know the storm is just part the risk for traveling in winter. And they are prepared should the storm delay them.

"If it's delayed, I just take a seat back. If it's canceled I'll just give my mom a call and be like hey guess what, you get an extra day with me," said  James Paqette, traveling to Portland .

As always be sure to check with your airline ahead of time to avoid any unnecessary time at the airport.
