6 crashes reported on I-94 amid heavy rain in Waukesha County

Western Lakes Fire District

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) — Firefighters in Waukesha County responded to six crashes on Interstate 94 as heavy rain created slick conditions across southeastern Wisconsin.

According to the Western Lakes Fire District, the crashes ranged from rollovers to incidents involving multiple vehicles. Officials said the wet roadway caused some vehicles to hydroplane.

"Please remember to slow down when weather and road conditions change, allow for increased distance between vehicles, turn headlights on, and ensure your tire tread is appropriate," the fire district said.

The Western Lakes Fire District said the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to study possible lane expansion along I-94, though any major changes remain years away.
