What's new at Wisconsin State Fair

Wisconsin State Fair officials are excited to announce “What’s New” for the 2017 Wisconsin State Fair. In addition to highly-anticipated traditions, this year’s Fair offers new attractions, competitions and entertainment during the Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular®, Thursday, Aug. 3 – Sunday, Aug. 13.

WONDERWHEEL

North America’s largest traveling Ferris wheel will make its Wisconsin debut at the 2017 Wisconsin State Fair! The 400,000 lb. ride, standing 15 stories high and featuring 528,000 vibrant LED lights, offers a breathtaking view of the city with visibility of 10 miles or more from the top of the wheel. Wisconsin State Fair is one of only three fairs at which the ride will be featured in 2017.

ALL FOR ONE SWINE SHOW

New this year, the All for One Swine Show will take place in the Swine & Goat Barn on Thursday, Aug. 3! Any person with an intellectual disability who is 8-17 years of age is eligible to enter, and will have the opportunity to gain the real-life experience of showing a pig. Each participant will be paired with two youth mentors and a pig to use for the show.

CULTIVATING SMILING SANGRIA HAPPINESS

Building off the success of the Bloody Mary and Old Fashioned Contests in recent years, the all-new homemade Sangria contest will determine whose fruit drink packs the most punch! The tastiest part? All submissions must feature Wisconsin wine. Judging will take place Sunday, Aug. 6 in Grand Champion Hall (sorry – no samples of this one!)

DOG TRICKS COMPETITION

We’ll find out which pup has what it takes to be top dog with the brand new Dog Trick Competition at the 2017 Wisconsin State Fair! Dog owners must submit a video of their pet’s best trick(s) by July 20 for initial judging. The top ten tricks will be performed LIVE at the Fair on Sunday, Aug. 13 for cash prizes and more! More information can be found here.
