MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) — Two people were arrested Wednesday night after Madison police responded to an alleged hazing incident involving about 30 young men at a fraternity house.

Officers were called around 8:15 p.m. to the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity in the 100 block of Langdon Street after police received an anonymous tip about the event.

Inside the basement, officers found approximately 30 partially clothed men covered in food, condiments and other liquids, according to the Madison Police Department.

Police said most of those in attendance were 18 years old, and several had visible injuries consistent with being physically assaulted.

Officers also found the thermostat in the basement set to 81 degrees, creating what police described as hot and humid conditions.

Police declared the gathering unlawful and escorted everyone outside. Officers checked each pledge for injuries and signs of incapacitation.

Madison police noted that Alpha Epsilon Pi is an unrecognized and unaccredited student organization that was terminated by the University of Wisconsin more than a decade ago.

The fraternity's president and vice president were present and spoke with responding officers, according to police.

Brayden J. Klein and Samuel N. Vane, both 20, were arrested on allegations of hazing and disorderly conduct. Both were taken to the Dane County Jail.

The incident remains under investigation.
