MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Tax Day is one week away.
Before or on April 15, you’ll want to have filed your taxes or asked for an extension to avoid any penalties.
If you’re granted an extension, you’ll have six more months to file. If you owe any money to the IRS, it must be paid by April 15 or else you will face fines.
One local tax agency says they expect to be busy right up until the 15th.
“If we made a list of those that came in on the 15th, it would be the same people each year,” said Paul Wickert with Acc-U-Rite Tax Service Inc. “Each of them vowing that they would never do this again and that they would be in earlier.”
The Wisconsin Department of Revenue offers free tax filing help. More information can be found on the DOR’s website.
