I was waiting on sunrise this morning but the clouds just took over the horizon before the sun came up . The water level in Lake Michigan has dropped quite a bit over the last year making these rocks visible again .

I raised the blinds in our family room this morning & looked out on the patio. It looked like a robin in our heated birdbath, but after 2 inches of snow, temp just above zero on February 12th how was that possible? Then the birdbath was swarmed.. Seven on the bath, one on ring below, 6 in maple tree above, 3 in ash tree above, 3 more on snow banks waiting for their turn!! 😱

Snow flowers on new ice, Mukwonago River near the confluence with the Fox River. These form during bitterly cold weather, on ice near unfrozen areas of rivers and lakes. That "steam" one sees rising off the open areas drifts over the surrounding ice, forming these fluffy snow flowers.
